（一） 笨鸟
今日，一间无人居住的房子的窗户处，一只不知名的鸟儿总是每日准时光顾，远远望去，只见它站在窗台上，不停地以头撞击玻璃窗，然后总被撞得落回窗台；但它坚持不懈，每日总要撞十来分钟，尔后又跌回窗台，随即离开。人们好奇心大发，纷纷猜测它大概是为了进那房间，而就在这鸟儿站立的窗台旁边，另一扇窗户是大开的，于是，得出结论：这是一只大笨鸟。
知道有一天，好事者带来望远镜，一切才真相大白：窗玻璃上粘满了小飞萤的尸体，那鸟儿吃得不亦乐乎。

（二） 命运
有一天，上帝的使者来到了人间，他碰到了一位高僧正在为两个孩子占卜前程，只见高僧指着其中一个孩子说“状元”，然后又指着另一个孩子说“乞丐”。
二十年后，上帝的使者又来到了人间，看到了先前那两个孩子，结果令他百思不解：当初的“状元”如今成了乞丐，而当初的“乞丐”反而成了状元。

（三） 安静
有人出了个问题给两位画家，题目是“安静”，要他们各画一张表达同一主题的画。
第一位画家画了一个湖，湖面十分平静，好似一面镜子，另外还画了些远山和湖边的花草，让它们倒影在水中。
第二位画家则画了奔流直泻的瀑布，瀑布旁边有一棵小树，树上的一条小枝上安有一个鸟巢，鸟巢里有一只小鸟，小鸟正在恬静地酣睡。
人们自然说第二位画家画得高明，因为它才真正理解了安静的含义；而第一位画家所画的湖面，静虽静矣，不过是一池死水罢了。

（四） 请不要开错窗
一个女孩趴在自己卧室的窗台上，她看见的是邻居正在埋葬一条小狗。这条小狗好可爱，小女孩平时常和它嬉戏，看到小狗悲惨地死去，小女孩不禁泪流满面，悲痛不已。她的外祖父见状，便把小女孩带到另一个房间，打开了另一个窗口，从这个窗口望出去，那是一片阳光灿烂，花香鸟语的玫瑰园。小女孩的愁云为之一扫，心境顿时开朗起来。

有个伐木工人在一家木材厂找到了工作，报酬不错，工作条件也好，他很珍惜，下决心好好干。
第一天，老板给他一把利斧，并给他划定了伐木范围。这一天，工人砍了18棵树，老板说：“干得不错！”工人有点沾沾自喜：第二天，他干得更加起劲，但是只砍了15棵树：第三天，他加倍努力，可是只砍了10棵。
工人觉得很惭愧，跑到老板那道歉，说自己也不知道怎么，好象力气越来越小了。
老板问:“你上一次磨斧子是什么时候？”
“磨斧子？”工人诧异地说:“我天天忙着砍树，哪里有工夫磨斧子？”
