郑人买履

郑国有个人想去买一双鞋,他量了自己的脚,把尺码放在座位上。等他走到集市,看中了一双鞋子时,才想起:我忘了拿尺码了。于是他又回去拿。

等他赶回来时,集市已经散了,鞋子没有买到。有人问他:“你为什么不用自己的脚去试试鞋子呢他说:“我只相信尺码,不相信自己的脚。”

“郑人买履”比喻只信教条,不顾实际的人。

忠心赤胆

唐三藏别了唐王,离了长安,马不停蹄,不一日来至法门寺。

众僧接到里面,相见献茶,用过斋饭,不觉天晚。众僧在灯下对三藏此行议论纷纷,有的说水远山高,有的说路多虎豹,有的说峻岭陡崖难度,有的说毒魔恶怪难降。三藏只是钳口不言,但以手指自心,点头而已。众僧不解,问道:“法师指心点头,是为什么呀?”三藏说:“心生,种种魔生;心灭,种种魔灭。我在佛像前发下洪誓大愿,不由我不尽此心。这一去,定要到西天,见佛求经,使我们法轮回转,愿圣主皇图永固。”众僧听了,人人称羡,个个宣扬,说他是“忠心赤胆大禅法师”。

“忠心赤胆” 形容十分忠诚。

风起云飞

秦朝末年,天下大乱,群雄并起。 经过连年的征战,刘邦后来居上,战胜了项羽,赢得了天下。可是没几天,淮南王英布造反,军势极盛,刘邦不得不亲自出征。在得胜回朝途中,刘邦顺路回了趟故乡沛县,和昔日的朋友、邻里叙旧畅饮了十几天。一次在热闹的酒席上,想起天下的安危,刘邦伤感的唱道:

大风起兮云飞扬, 威加海内兮归故乡。安得猛士兮守四方!

南朝时期,梁朝湘东王萧绎的妃子徐昭佩由于得不到宠爱,先后与荆州瑶光寺的智远道人,贺徽以及暨季江勾搭成奸。暨季江感慨地说:“没想到徐娘半老,竟风韵犹存,是如此风流多情。”萧绎忍无可忍责令她自杀。

唐朝著名大诗人李白小时候不喜欢念书,常常逃学,到街上去闲逛。

一天,李白又没有去上学,在街上东溜溜、西看看,不知不觉到了城外。暖和的阳光、欢快的小鸟、随风摇摆的花草使李白感叹不已,“这么好的天气,如果整天在屋里读书多没意思?”

走着走着,在一个破茅屋门口,坐着一个满头白发的老婆婆,正在磨一根棍子般粗的铁杵。李白走过去,“老婆婆,您在做什么?”

“我要把这根铁杵磨成一个绣花针。”老婆婆抬起头,对李白笑了笑,接着又低下头继续磨着。

“绣花针?”李白又问:“是缝衣服用的绣花针吗?”

“当然!”

“可是,铁杵这么粗,什么时候能磨成细细的绣花针呢?”

老婆婆反问李白:“滴水可以穿石,愚公可以移山,铁杵为什么不能磨成绣花针呢?”

“可是,您的年纪这么大了?”

“只要我下的功夫比别人深,没有做不到的事情。”

老婆婆的一番话,令李白很惭愧,于是回去之后,再没有逃过学。每天的学习也特别用功,终于成了名垂千古的诗仙。

掷地有声

晋朝的孙绰年轻时隐居会稽(在今浙江绍兴),游放山水十几年,后来写了篇《遂初赋》来表达自己的志向。

在章安(在今浙江台州)做官时,孙绰写了篇《游天台山赋》,说置身于“穷山海之瑰富,尽人神之壮丽” 的天台山, 便会“恣语乐以终日,等寂默于不言”,辞致新奇,绘景如画。文章写成后,孙绰拿给朋友范荣期看,并开玩笑说:“你把它扔到地上,应当会发出金石之声。”荣期每读到佳句,总是说:“就应该这么写啊!”

当时人都以得到孙绰的文章为荣。

“掷地有声”比喻文章文辞优美,语言铿锵有力。

二桃三士

春秋时期,齐国有三个勇士公孙接、田开疆、古冶子,他们居功自傲,蛮不讲理,相国晏婴担心他们会闹事而影响国家安危,建议齐景公赐两个桃子让他们三人论功而食,结果他们有勇无谋,因争吃桃子纷纷自杀身亡

二桃三士的意思是:士:武士。春秋时齐景公将两个桃子赐给公孙接、田开疆、古冶子论功而食,三人弃桃自杀。比喻借刀杀人

朽木不可雕

出处《论语·公冶长》

孔子的弟子宰予,言辞美好,说起话来娓娓动听。起初,孔 子很喜欢这个弟子,以为他一定很有出息。可是不久,宰子暴露出懒 惰的毛病。 一天,孔子给弟子讲课,发现宰予没有来听课,就派弟子去找。 一会儿,去找的弟子回来报告说,宰予在房里睡大觉。 孔子听了伤感他说: “腐烂的木头不能雕刻,粪土一样的墙壁不能粉刷。最初我听到 别人的话,就相信他的行为一定与他说的一样;现在我听别人的话 后,要考察一下他的行为。就从宰子起,我改变了态度。”

心灰意冷

在去西天取经途中,唐僧不识妖怪红孩儿变化,不听孙悟空再三劝阻,非要搭救。红孩儿乘机使神通压住孙悟空,弄起一阵旋风,走石扬沙,摄了唐僧,去得无踪无影。

等行者甩去重负,风已经停了。只见白龙马战兢兢嘶叫,行李丢在路下,八戒伏在崖下呻吟,沙僧蹲在坡前叫唤。行者忙上前扯住二人问道:“师父呢?”八戒说:“好大的风,我们各自掩面低头,师父也伏在马上吧。”行者说:“兄弟们,我们自此散了吧!”八戒说:“正是,趁早散了!想那西天路无穷无尽,几时到得了!”沙僧吃惊道:“师兄,你都说的是那里话。我们因为前生有罪,蒙观音菩萨劝化,皈依佛门,保护唐僧上西方取经,将功折罪。千辛万苦到此,今天半途而废,岂不是违了菩萨的好意,坏了自己的德行,惹人耻笑!”行者说:“兄弟说的也是,我火眼金睛,奈何师父不听我的,故我有些意懒心灰,说各人散了。八戒,你说说看?”八戒说:“我刚才失口乱说了几句,其实也不该散。”行者喜道:“兄弟们,还要来结同心,收拾行李马匹,上山找那妖怪,搭救师父去。”

“心灰意冷”指失去希望和勇气,意志消沉。

捉襟见肘

曾子在卫国的时候,常常三天也做不了一次饭,十年也没做一件衣服,整一整帽子帽带就会断,整一整衣襟胳臂肘就会露出来,可他高唱《商颂》的声音充塞天地之间,象敲响的钟磬。

鲁国国君派人去给他赠送采邑,对他说:“请用采邑的收入做件衣服吧。”曾子不接受,使者又去了,曾子还不接受。使者说:“这不是先生您向国君要求的,而是国君要奉送您的,为什么不接受呢?”曾子说:“接受的人往往害怕赠送的人,赠送的人往往对接受的人表现出骄纵,能不能使国君赠给我采邑而对我不骄纵,我很担心这一点啊 !”

“捉襟见肘”形容衣衫褴褛,引申为处境困难。

四面楚歌

项羽和刘邦原来约定以鸿沟(在今河南荣县境贾鲁河)东西边作为界限,互不侵犯。后

来刘邦听从张良和陈平的规劝,觉得应该趁项羽衰弱的时候消灭他,就又和韩信、彭越、刘

贾会合兵力追击正在向东开往彭城(即今江苏徐州)

的项羽部队。终于布置了几层兵力,把项羽紧紧围在垓下(在今安徽灵璧县东南)。这

时,项羽手下的兵士已经很少,粮食又没有了。夜里听见四面围住他的军队都唱起楚地的民

歌,不禁非常吃惊地说:“刘邦已经得到了禁地了吗?

为什么他的部队里面楚人这么多呢?”说看,心里已丧失了斗志,便从床上爬起来,在

营帐里面喝酒;并和他最宠爱的妃子虞姬一同唱歌。唱完,直掉眼泪,在旁的人也非常难

过,都觉得抬不起头来。一会,项羽骑上马,带了仅剩的八百名骑兵,从南突围逃走。边逃

边打,到乌江畔自刎而死。

因为这个故事里面有项羽听见四周唱起楚歌,感觉吃惊,接看又失败自杀的情节,所以

以后的人就用“四面楚歌”这句话,形容人们遭受各方面攻击或逼迫的人事环境,而致陷于

孤立窘迫的境地。

凡是陷于此种境地者,其命运往往是很悲惨的,例如某人因经常与坏人为伍,不事生

产,游手好闲;但后来却破那些坏人逼迫的无以为生,求助于别人时,别人也应他平日行为

太坏,绝不同情更不理睬,这人所处的境地便是“四面楚歌”。又如学校里讨论学术问题,

其学生不学无术(成语,意即没有学术)

、信口雌黄、颠倒是非,同学们群起而攻之,这学生便完全处于孤立地位,这也可叫做

“四面楚歌”。在我们的人生历程上,在我们的日常生活中,好好的做人,脚踏实地的做

事,若是行差踏错,就未免要遭受“四面楚歌”的厄运了。

四面楚歌的意思是:比喻陷入四面受敌、孤立无援的境地。

欲罢不能

颜回是鲁国人,和父亲颜路一起来跟随孔子学习。学习一段时间后,颜回叹道∶“夫子讲的道理,越仰望越显得高远,越钻研越觉得坚深,看似在面前,一会又出现在背后。夫子循序渐进地教我,用语言来打开我的智慧,用礼义来约束我的行为,现在我想停止不学也不可能了(欲罢不能)。尽管我已经用尽了我的力量,可是距离夫子讲的道理依然很远,我想去追从,却总感到跟不上。”

颜回很穷,常常只能吃一小碗饭、喝一瓢汤、住简陋的房子,别人都受不了这种苦,他却乐在其中。孔子说他是好样的。

后来颜回死了。有一回鲁哀公问孔子:“弟子之中谁最好学?”孔子说:“曾经有个叫颜回的学生好学,不乱发脾气、不犯两次错误,不幸短命死了!再也没有好学的了。”

“欲罢不能”指想停止却停止不了。

欲速则不达

子夏是孔子的弟子。

有一次,子夏要去鲁国莒地为官,来向孔子请教为政之道,孔子说:“不要求快,不要贪求小利。求快反而达不到目地,贪求小利就做不成大事。”

后来子夏来到魏国的西河以教书为生。老的时候,子夏的儿子病死了,子夏眼睛都哭瞎了。曾子来看望他,子夏哭着说:“天哪,我有什么罪啊,要这样惩罚我?” 曾子生气的说:“子夏你怎么能说自己无罪过呢?过去在鲁国你我跟随夫子学习,夫子过世后,你来到西河,现在几十年过去了,西河的人都知道你,却不知道夫子! 你的父母去世时,西河人都不知道,现在你的儿子死了,你哭瞎了眼睛,西河没有人不知道的,这些不是你的罪吗?”子夏丢下手中的拐杖,拜谢道:“我是有罪的,我是有罪的。我离开大家独处的时间太长了。”
