Nowadays, more and more young people are becoming too proud and over-confident.
They think they can do everything. So they simply ignore their old parents, and believe that
their parents’ experienced thoughts are out of date. Actually I used to be one of them,
but after hearing a story told by my father, I changed my mind completely.
Now I would like to share it with all of you.
Once, there’s a young man who look down on the old. He always thought that the old were just
nuisances in your busy life, a useless life that was going to wither. He also did this to his father.
One day, the father and the son happened to meet each other in the grove. The son suggested
that they should take a walk together. As they walked, a beautiful garden came into their sight.
The son pointed to one of the prettiest flower and said,
‘we young people are like this fragrant flower, so healthy, so vigorous, and full of spirit.
What about you oldstersJust like the falling leaves from a dying tree.’
Hearing this,
the father smiled butsaid nothing. They continued the walking in silence.when they passed a grocery,
the father stopped and went in, he bought a walnut and show it to his son, slow and gracious, he said,
‘we old are like this walnut. We’ve experienced many hard events in life.
So we built up such a firm shell,
and at the same time we also built up a pure inner world. Every fruit is so full-grown.’
‘but every fruit wasborn by flower.’ Refuted the son.
‘yes, but not every flower can bear fruit….’
From the on, I always keep this story in my mind. It has taught me a lot.
We should try to be a flower that can bear fruit.we alsohave to know that our parents aren’t nuisances,
useless lives or falling leaves but are experienced walnuts, masterpiece of nature.
They are the ones we should appreciate forever.
sand and stone
the story goes that two friends were walking through the desert. during some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
the one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: "today my best friend slapped me in the face."
they kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. the one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
after he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "today my best friend saved my life."
the friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "after i hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. why?"
the other friend replied: "when someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. but when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."
learn to write your hurts in the sand and to carve your benefits in stone.
they say it takes a minute to find a special person an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them.
send this phrase to the people you'll never forget. it's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them
take the time to live.
There is not a (no) thrifty man but becomes a rich man sooner or later. WhyBecause he will not spend such money as is unnecessary. Little by little his money will accumulate. Ten to one, he is bound to make a fortune.
I do not like such men as spend their money in a wrong way. They do not know extravagance is a bad thing. It can only make them happy for the time being. In short, thrift makes poor men rich and extravagance makes rich men poor.
Needless to say, nothing but perseverance can lead a man to the way of success. In other words, a persevering man never does his work without succeeding in it. This is indeed unchangeable truth.
Our National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, is the most ideal example. He was devoted to the revolution about forty years. He met with many failures, but he was anything but discouraged. As a result, he won. The Republic of China was born.
WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY 有志者事竟成
The secret of success (The key to success) is not so much money as a strong will. A great man is one who has a strong will and an indomitable spirit. In other words, if a man does not have a strong will to win (get) the final victory, he will never succeed in his life. He is no more than a failure.
It is quite obvious that there is no difficult thing (nothing difficult) in the world. if you make up your mind to do it, you will certainly accomplish your end. That stands to reason.
成功的要诀不是金钱而是一个坚强的意志(用not so mush... as)。 他只不过是(用no more than)一个失败者。
1. feeling in snow as soon as i walked outside, i was greeted with the shimmering white blanket of cold. despite the chill overwhelming my skin, inside i was warm. i felt as though i could be giving off heat; i had the desire to stay out in this freeze for hours. it was the type of day that speaks to you through its elements; i took a deep breath to hear more snow was coming. as i walked i looked up, trying to realize what made this day so beautiful, so serene. it was as if time had been put temporarily on hold and i along with it. or maybe i was the only one unpaused…either way, the solitude was comforting, and i sensed myself floating away. i sat down on the edge of a curb and listened. all there was to hear was the wind rushing over the top of my head and circling some old, cracking leaves some yards away. to me it was the reassuring sound of nature, trying not to be forgotten. it did start to snow. none of those little flurries, but big, fat flakes which clung immediately to their surface. then it was time to go and my reverie had to end. as i began walking again, i drifted back into this time frame, calm and cleared. now if only i could remember where i was going.
